The City of London Corporation oversees The City Bridge Trust and donates more than £15 million to charity annually.

However, it also runs a number of other smaller grant schemes through its Finance Committee which makes annual grants amounting to between £150k and £250k.

Each year, the Finance Committe considers a variety of initiatives and projects in all areas of charitable work. Grants range between £10k and £15k. There is emphasis on initiatives which support:

  • the conservation of the heritage of the City and London
  • educational/cultural projects aimed at people who live or work in the City and its neighbouring areas
  • make a difference, no matter what the size of the organisation.

The Committee has final discretion as to which projects receive grants. It will seek evidence of need and will ensure that organisations have effective planning and are energetic about fundraising.

Occasionally, grants can be made for more than one year. However, the Finance Committee will not usually renew grants or provide long-term commitments.

Applicants are expected to be UK registered charities.
