Grants to support Global Community Links

The Department for International Development sets up £3million scheme to help communities in the UK build links with communities in developing countries.

Global Community Links is funded by DFID and managed by British Council, the Institute of Community Cohesion, the Inter Faith Network for the UK and VSO.

If your community group is in touch with a community group in a developing country and you're interested in working together to learn more about global development issues, Global Community Links could be for you. Recipients of grants could include faith groups, community groups, local government, business and charitable organisations.

Linking is an ongoing relationship between two groups of people, usually in different countries, who communicate and do things together, founded on trust for mutual benefit.

Global Community Links can help you:

  • Understand more about global development issues.
  • Make connections between your community and others.
  • Explore how global issues have a local impact.

Global Community Links offers:

  • Online support, advice and ideas for every stage of your Link journey.
  • Newsletters and resources to inspire your Link.
  • Workshops to activate your Link, to share experiences with others and to get to know other people involved in Linking.
  • Resources to help you evaluate your successes.

Funding can help you:

  • Strengthen your global Link.
  • Learn and share knowledge about global development issues.
  • Involve other people and other community groups in your Link
