City of London Corporation, Hackney Council and NHS service providers say that "the Profile is especially important in the current climate, where [we] are striving to ensure that local people continue to have high quality services despite financial constraints.

The contents of the Profile are wide ranging; they are drawn from a number of sources, including national databases, national and local research and resident consultations. The Profile presents information about the range of factors which contribute to health and wellbeing, including wealth and poverty, work and worklessness, housing, transport, education, culture and health services. Critically, the Profile will inform efforts to improve the health and wellbeing of residents and reduce associated inequalities in a period of economic uncertainty."

Each chapter contains information crucial to the work of Hackney Council, City of London Corporation, local NHS organisations and the voluntary sector. It is also a rich source of data for local people.
