London Marathon grants for community sports projects

The London Marathon Charitable Trust makes grants each year for the provision of facilities for recreation and leisure, principally targetting projects which encourage sport or other physical activity. Closing date: 31 August 2011.
The Trust is able to fund projects in areas where the London Marathon Ltd stages events, which is now only London and South Northamptonshire.
Grants made have varied from £250 to £250,000. London Marathon Charitable Trust makes grants to Local Authorities, Sports Clubs, Youth Centres and many other groups including the voluntary sector.
The Trust does not usually fund revenue expenditure (which includes small items of equipment) as the trustees wish to make a lasting contribution to the benefit of the community through, largely, capital projects.
The application process opens after the Virgin London Marathon and closes on 31 August in each year. The trustees meet in December to decide on grants to be made.
