Opening of the new Portsoken Community Centre Project

The Rt Hon The Lord Mayor Alderman Michael Bear, Lord Mayor of the City of London, launched the Portsoken Community Centre project on Friday 17 June.

Together with Lady Mayoress Barbara Bear, he visited stalls prepared by community activists, admired artwork by local youngsters, and received a gift.

Local MP Mark Field also attended and welcomed the new development. Residents on the Portsoken Estate are working towards running the centre and its activities independently in eight months' time.
