The Prince's Trust programmes to support young people
The Prince's Trust is the country’s leading youth charity, helping young people who have struggled at school, are care-leavers, long-term unemployed or have been in trouble with the law.
In London each year The Prince's Trust helps almost 3,500 young people, with three in four of them going on to work, education or training.
The charity’s success is dependent on the strength of its partnerships, working with a range of organisations to reach and support those who need it most.
Close to the City of London, The Trust works with Lambeth College, Westminster College and Islington Boat Club amongst others to deliver the Team programme, the flagship 12-week personal development course. Team develops key workplace skills such as confidence and motivation through group and individual challenges and work experience.
The Trust’s xl programme, an alternative curriculum for 14-16 year olds who are at risk of truanting, exclusion or underachievement runs from a number of locations close to the City of London. Amongst other venues, the Harris Academy in Peckham, New River College, a pupil referral unit in Islington and Stockwell Park High School all run the programme.
Young people from the City of London can access a range of Prince’s Trust Get Into programmes, short intensive training schemes which give young people experience of specific job sectors. The Trust runs a range of these programmes throughout London.
The Prince's Trust supports young people from the City of London in other ways, offering Development and Community Cash Awards, small grants to enable young people to access education, training or work or to set up a project that will benefit their community.
The Prince’s Trust relies on its partnerships and is keen to work in both partnerships and consortia with local organisations.
