Trust for London seeks new trustee

Trust for London amalgamated with City Parochial Foundation in 2010. Established in 1891, it is a pioneering charity deeply committed to tackling poverty and disadvantage in London. It is seeking to appoint one new trustee to its board. Application deadline: 3 October 2011.

The Trust makes grants in excess of £7 million each year to charities and voluntary organisations working with marginalised people and communities to tackle old problems in new and creative ways. We are looking to attract applications from people with a strong working knowledge and experience of dealing with poverty and inequality and who are passionate about effective approaches to tackling these issues.

We are determined to improve the diversity of our board to reflect the mix of London's population along with ensuring that the voices and experiences of London’s communities are represented at our meetings.

The board meets four times a year and Trustees are encouraged to serve on two of the board's committees, including a grants committee. The overall time commitment is expected to be about six to ten days a year. The Trust is based in the Barbican, London EC1, where all meetings are held.

Trustees are not paid, but reasonable out-of-pocket expenses will be met. Trustees will be appointed for five years initially, renewable for a further five years. Further details about the Trust and a full Trustee Recruitment Pack are available on Trust for London's website.
